Child Protection Policy

A Child Protection Policy provides guidelines to ensure consistent practice and appropriate conduct within each church activity for children. In addition, it explains which forms should be used to ensure that all leaders/helpers are vetted and formally trained in Child Protection Procedures.

Why?
We, as a congregation, have a responsibility to protect the children who enjoy church activities and a responsibility to protect the adults who lead and help within them.

Who?
The Youth and Children’s Department of the Methodist Church in Ireland is ultimately responsible for all
Child Protection issues including training and has assisted in the process of writing our new policy.
The Church Council has appointed Stephen Blevins as the ‘Designated Child Protection Person’ for RMC.
Stephen has much experience in this field as Principal of Orchard County Primary School.

When?
If you ever have a concern, you should immediately contact the designated person. He will then consult
the Youth and Children’s Department on the most appropriate course of action. Information will be treated
in the strictest confidence in every case.
